Visitors and regular users of Ford Park are often unaware that the day to day costs of maintaining the park from mowing the lawns, maintaining the playground and emptying the dog bins are bourne entirely by the charity. By launching the new membership programme we are hoping to raise awareness of the charity and its invaluable work, and gain the support of all those who utilise and enjoy Ford Park and its facilities.
Ford Park is a beautiful 9 acre park in the centre of Ulverston which is owned and managed by the registered charity Ford Park Community Group. A much-loved community resource and local amenity, Ford Park is managed by the group for the benefit of the community and visitors to Ulverston..
Over the last few years Ford Park has blossomed with the re-establishment of the Victorian kitchen garden, the development of the Coach House Café’ and Bistro and the installation of the natural playground.
Physical changes have gone hand in hand with the implementation of the charities remit to support the disadvantaged, and promote health, well-being and sustainable lifestyles through education, training and community events.
Many of the developments at Ford Park including its original purchase from the County Council have been funded by grants and fund-raising events but also by significant loans which we are now striving to repay.
